Homecoming - Mississippi Style

Countless churches and schools have discovered the values of "homecoming."  Such observances vary in terms of length of days and events, but all give returnees the opportunities to reconnect, remember, give thanks and anticipate the future.

Brenda and I had those opportunities this past weekend by attending "Homecoming at Porter's Chapel UMC" in Vicksburg (MS).  We served this congregation from 1972-1975. The weather was perfect, the stories were heartwarming, the food as delicious as we remembered, and the hugs reaffirming!  It had all the qualities of a "Mississippi homecoming."

Thanks for inviting us home and giving us the chance to preach and say thanks again for who you are.  With you homecoming is more than an occasional event!  It is a spirit and way of life.
