With no group to teach and time on my hands, I find myself reflecting on the place of Jerusalem in the world. In antiquity, Jerusalem with its turbulent history and eternal promise earned the title, "center of the world."
A very old drawing reflects this fact. In the center of three continents stood the nation. At the heart of the nation was Jerusalem. Some even called her "the navel of the world."
Life, sustenance and hope seemed to flow from her.
Hardly a day goes by that this city is not in the news. It is not always a happy report. But few can deny that centrality!
What an amazing gift to me to live here for part of the year! Jerusalem indeed assists me in centering life.
