Walking the Old City

With the departure of the group yesterday, I have my first day off in thirty days.  So what did Brenda and I do?  We walked the Old City, one of our favorite activities.

Traffic is back to normal after quite a day on Thursday.  It was Mohammed's birthday.  In addition, the Golani Regiment (IDF) was gathered at the Western Wall for "swearing in."

The mood of everyone was exuberant.  Arab children swirled about their mothers on this most important day.  Our driver told us that they had been to the Dome of the Rock for a blessing of the children.

As green and yellow banners fluttered at the Western Wall, Israel's future soldiers waited for the ceremony.  Family members chanted and danced.

While all these families seem to be at opposite extremes, they are alike in sharing the joy of family.  One day, may we all rejoice in being a part of the one family of God!
