Our First Day in the Land

Church in Shepherds' Field
We began our program today without seven members of our group due to flight delays.  First up was a city tour of Jerusalem.  The view from the Haas Promenade is remarkable.  From here we had our first view of the city of Jerusalem.  It is the same view Abraham might have had upon his journey to Mount Moriah for the sacrifice of Isaac.

Then we made our way to the Israel Museum.  Among other things, we viewed the Second Temple Model of Jerusalem and learned what Jerusalem might have looked like in the time of Jesus.

We concluded the day back in Bethlehem at Shepherds' Field.  Our visit was to the Latin Shepherds' Field.  There are three such fields in the area including a Greek Orthodox and a Protestant site.

The Latin Church is most beautiful and is in the shape of a shepherd's tent.  Our day ended with some of our group making their way from here to Manger Square.
