Jerusalem Past and Present 3

A Jerusalem visitor can now walk a 1st century street extending from the Pool of Siloam to the Old City.  Beneath the street, excavators have also found a large drainage channel.  Jews under siege and attack from Rome then hid in the drain.

As a thoroughfare for pilgrims coming from Bethlehem and points south of the Jerusalem Temple, one can imagine worshippers cleansing themselves in the Pool of Siloam before ascending Zion.  From the scriptures, we can name a few of the persons who walked this street: the Chief Priest during the Feast of Tabernacles, the blind man of John 9, and perhaps Jesus.

Today's student can walk this street as well.  More and more, Jerusalem past is being revealed in this area albeit not without controversy.
