Yet Another Rediscovery!

One of Three Threshing Floors Near Beit Sahour

Earlier in January of this year, I set out with a group from Minnesota to rediscover the threshing floors that JCBS students once visited between Beit Sahour and the Herodion.  They had seemingly been lost due to new road construction.

Thanks to the persistence of our driver, Walid, we found the series of three threshing floors atop a hill with a magnificent view.  Needless to say, we were overjoyed with our "rediscovery."

As in times past, we read from The Book of Ruth (chapters 2 and 3).  Surrounded by wheat fields and threshing floors, we heard the story of Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz with greater clarity.  We read the scriptures through new eyes.

The threshing floor came to me like an old friend with lessons from the land.  My desire for you is to stand on these threshing floors and at countless other holy sites with the Bible in hand.  Join us at the Jerusalem Center for Biblical Studies with "the land as our classroom."
