Herod the Great Makes His Final Journey

Today, three of our staff visited the Israel Museum and  their newest exhibit detailing the life, reign and works of King Herod.  Herod ruled Israel from 37 to 4 B. C. E.

While his contemporaries never referred to him as Herod the Great, he was certainly the "great Builder King."  The exhibit does nothing to diminish that reputation.  With artifacts and videos, the exhibitors highlight building projects like Herod's winter palace at Jericho, his fortresses at Masada and Cypros, the Temple in Jerusalem, and the tomb complex at the Herodion.

Our excitement and anticipation for this exhibit could not have been greater.  Neither were we disappointed.  All of our expectations were met.

We feel blessed to be in the land and especially at this time for the exhibit.  The window of opportunity for viewing the exhibit is quite narrow.  Yet we were able to take it all in.

Our thanks to any and all who helped to make this exhibition possible!
