Worship in East Jerusalem

It is Sunday in Jerusalem!  The Lord is risen indeed!

We participated in worship at East Jerusalem Baptist Church.  The congregation is made up mostly of internationals in the country for short periods of time, much like us.  The pastor is Alex Awad, a United Methodist missionary to Israel and Palestine.

The style of worship is contemporary as we like to say. While the service lacks liturgy, the congregation does sing from the United Methodist Hymnal.  In addition, they sing from a chorus or song sheet.

The service is welcoming, warm, and affirming.  We are now renewed after a sabbath rest and Sunday worship.
