Preparations are underway for yet another Festival of Tabernacles. This Feast of Joy continues for one week as prescribed by Torah.
Known also as the Feast of Booths or Sukkot, Jewish families live and eat in temporary shelters. The observance is meant to remind the faithful of the Wilderness experience of G-d's people when the "cloud of glory" sheltered them from the dangers and distresses of the desert.
Friends and strangers are welcomed during this season of joy. Jews take up daily the "four species" as a celebration of community. Water is poured out prominently as a powerful symbol of the Lord's providence.
May the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Aaron, Joseph and David bless you richly this holiday and always!
