Strolling the Ben Yehuda Mall

What better way to spend a free morning in Jerusalem than to stroll the Ben Yehuda Pedestrian Mall!  The sights, sounds and smells are delightful.

On one corner, a guitarist was playing such songs as "My Way."  A merchant in one store was so busy praying that he had to chase us down the hill to offer us belatedly his business card and promised 60% off our purchases.

Best of all, late morning presented us with the opportunity to eat a great American hamburger at the local McDonald's, a cheese-burger no less.  After all, we have been in the land six weeks.  It was time for a taste of home.

This street is named for Eliezer Ben-Yehuda, who brought Modern Hebrew to the returning Jewish people.  But locals and tourists alike enjoy more than the modern language on this street.
